I wrote this in July 2020, after an intense overnight storm. The story came to me quickly, finishing the music took a week or two after that.
lyrics
I used to be a man about town
sleeping in doorways all around I
used to be a scoundrel
at least that's what I heard
but I don't recall
everything that occurred
CHORUS: There was a storm I couldn't sleep through
lightning flash vivid blue
thunder in my head like a train
my heart is filling up with rain
I used to be the talk of the town
I could not restrain the words I found
the ocean one day returns
all things to the shore
so now I'm back to
where I was before
If I told you lies in our debates
It's so hard to keep things straight
every time I tell my story
the story overtakes
but now I wanna say I'm sorry
for every mistake
